CONTAMINATED WATER CATEGORIES
Category 1
Water which originates from a clean or sanitary source like a leaky faucet or hot water heater. Once this water comes in contact with other surfaces, it can change to Category 2 or even Category 3.
Category 2
Gray water with some contaminants that can cause discomfort or illness if digested. Examples include washing machine or dishwasher overflow, broken aquariums or punctured waterbeds.
Category 3
Grossly contaminated water that can contain pathogenic, toxigenic, or other harmful agents. This can come from sewage or water blown in from hurricanes and weather events, or sewer line backups.
